there are so many emotions that come with writing this post but none like those that have been felt by this incredible family. they have endured a trial that few will ever know. they have a love for christ that is clearer, deeper and stronger than they could have ever imagined. a little over three months ago, during a family vacation in florida, 21 month old libby claire fell 9 feet from a balcony in their beach house. she was airlifted to the hospital with severe trauma to her head and the outlook was grim. matt and elizabeth had only one thing to cling to with each passing hour as they waited to hear news about their daughters future: jesus. hours turned into days and days into weeks and libby claire improved more than any of the doctors predicted she would. back in lake wylie, matt & elizabeth's family and friends were on their knees praying for strength and healing for the mcgarity's little girl. elizabeth poured her heart and soul out on the caring bridge site that kept everyone informed on libby claire's progress. if you weren't one of the almost 80,000 who visited the site you should do it & read the full story of this true miracle.

if you saw sweet libby claire today & didn't know her or didn't notice the scars on her head from her life saving surgeries, you would think she was just like any other two year old. but, for matt and elizabeth to see their little girl run, to watch her be carried around by one of her big brothers or sister, to hear her talk and see her smile, and laugh, and reach lovingly for them, is a gift that comes with each new day. they don't take for granted how precious life is. the memories are still fresh and to watch elizabeth's eyes well up with tears as she talks about that life-changing day in july really makes me realize how we truly don't know what tomorrow brings. we have to love well and choose to snuggle over folding laundry. say yes to eating cupcakes for breakfast. play often & make up secret handshakes. let your little girls dress up in your clothes & get into your best make up. wrestle with your boys & teach them to be wild at heart.

elizabeth wrote her final caring bridge entry this week with the hopes of letting the memories of libby's hardest days be put behind them. she is an incredibly gifted writer and you will get lost in her heartfelt love for her family and for jesus. chasing the sea gulls is a continuation of her journey as she walks beside her sweet husband matt, their four children & baby number five, coming in january. to this family who has touched the lives of so many, thank you for blessing me with the gift of capturing all the joy that lives within the walls of your hearts. never stop flying, sweet libby claire.

margaret & jeremy: tennessee wedding photographer

what a heavenly day this was. jeremy, the good-hearted, selfless friend and owner of swagger in knoxville, married margaret, the sweet & charming elementary school teacher. together these two ooze love from deep within their hearts.
when i found out margaret was engaged i was ecstatic for her! even better was the fact that the amazingly talented meggie velasco, a high school friend of jeremy's, had captured the moment with her camera on the beach in florida. fast forward 7 months later to a stormy and rainy month of october. margaret had dreamed her whole life about getting married outside in the middle of the fall season. she found the perfect location in hunter valley farm, complete with beautiful pastures, barns & horses. believe me that there were lots and lots of prayers lifted up asking for a dry enough evening to allow for the outdoor ceremony. there were plenty of doubters but margaret held tight to her dream. a fine mist fell literally until the ceremony began and margaret walked across the grass with her eyes locked on the one who loves her more than she could imagine. jeremy was overcome by margarets beauty and grace & she was a true vision of a life lived to the full. the thick clouds made the ceremony so intimate and almost dream-like. it was a perfect day filled with love & celebration with family and friends! marg & jeremy, thank you for allowing me to be part of your incredible wedding! xoxxo

i'm still having some internal issues with my hosting company amping up security. since i can't do a slideshow i'm making this a mondo post so you can get lost in the photographs...

photographing friends is extra special to me because of the existing comfort between us. i know how they laugh, know which is their good side & can bring them to a place that i can't always bring a first time client :) i photograph strangers way more than friends but i always get really excited to make a fool of myself with people i know! tucker turned one just two weeks before bosten and nicole and i tried four times to get this shoot scheduled! as luck would have it, the day we ended up with was in the middle of the week at high noon. normally, i would run faster than you can imagine from having to shoot that time of day...especially with kids! well, i have to tell you that i am madly in love with these pictures, with the light & virtually everything about them. this is one of those times that knowing how to find good light really paid off & i'm glad i could test this theory with some of my best friends :) love, love you three & i hope these make you want to roll around in your pictures! xoxo.

i mean, what more can i say about this photo? two week old chase had his game face on for his first photo session and oh my gosh was he cute! his big brother charlie, aka monkey, has lots to teach him about trucks, tractors and playing & i think chase will be all about him in just a few months! chase made some great faces for the camera and even gave us a little treat by way of his diaper while i was shooting away. if that's not a boy for you, i don't know what is :) congrats to this awesome family on their newest addition!
