the smitten photo academy {spa} is a four hour workshop for anyone who loves photography, wants to take better pictures of the people and things they love & learn how to do so using their DSLR camera!
the {spa} days are for 10 people to allow for plenty of one on one time during our discussions. we cover everything from how to find the best lighting, how to make your kids smile without saying "cheese", to learning how to use the functions of the camera that you may have never realized exist.
this is the only {spa} date on the books for right now and spots are filled on a first come, first served basis. check your calendar for:
MAY 23. 2009 from 10am-2pm in davidson, north carolina.
. the workshop is $150 per person. your spot will be reserved by emailing me & paying for the class. *due to the demand & limited number of spots offered, the fee is non refundable in the event that you cannot come the day of.
. the workshop is not training on how to become a professional photographer - the class is meant for those who enjoy photography as a hobby or serious passion and want to better their skills & knowledge in the field.
. we will have a real photo shoot with models after lunch to help put your new skills into practice :)
here is some feedback from a few people who have attended previous workshops:
hi sharon! i just wanted you to know that i had an awesome time at spa day! i
learned so much from you and cannot thank you enough. i now feel like i have
enough knowledge to get better pics of my kiddos :) it is so generous of you to
share your knowledge and talent with those of us that also have a passion for
photography. thanks again for everything!

Sharon, What a help that class was!! I LOVED it & really felt like I learned so
much! I went home & practiced on my kids too. I am going to try to practice
a little bit everyday so I do not forget anything. I am also going to get
that lens:) I will def. pass along the word to interested people.
- hope
if you are interested in signing up for the smitten photo academy, email sharon@smittenphotography.com as soon as possible! i'm excited about a new class full of fun people :) |

oh my. i have been bubbling over these photos trying to get them together for this slideshow and knew that i'd have to tell the story of this most awesome weekend...such a fun wedding celebration that i shared with callie & brian at hunter valley farm and how my life took an unexpected turn on my way to tennessee.
while i was on my way to knoxville, i got struck out of nowhere with the most violent stomach virus i have ever had. i am literally on the side of interstate 40, stopping every two exits because i am so sick i can hardly hold my head up. i had no warning of not feeling well, and within the first ten minutes of getting queezy, the virus hit me like 10 mac trucks!! needless to say, i couldn't keep driving once i got between asheville and knoxville. i pulled over on an exit that had ONLY one motel...you know, the kind of motel that has outside doors, a separate office & the rooms are "up on the hill". yes, that kind of motel. however, when you are in the state that i was in, it wouldn't matter if there was a mattress in a parking lot, because lying down is the only way to regain any stability! my hubby heard my voice and got straight in his car and sped to my side. he brought me strong drugs which knocked me out & helped me eventually to keep gatorade down.
so, in the meantime, i am thinking "how am i going to possibly shoot this wedding tomorrow if i am feeling this sick?" i didn't have a second shooter and this was a wedding that callie had booked me for over a year ago! my friend lauren, called amy who didn't think twice and drove to meet me in asheville to help me drive and shoot the wedding. i can't say enough that she helped me make it through the day, and despite eventually losing my voice entirely, i made it through the whole wedding and got some pretty amazing pictures {some of which i truly don't remember taking :)} turns out, sunday after i got home and ended up at the e.r., i had a lung infection, stomach virus AND got laryngitis. sweet, huh?! :) big huge overflowing thanks to you, amy, for being willing and gracious and canceling photo shoots to help me in my desperation. you are awe-to-the-some. AND thank the lord in heaven that you never got sick :)
i've also gotta thank callie, this beautiful bride, for supplying me with zofran & being patient and understanding when getting a 7 am wedding day phone call that i am in a motel in asheville! i will continue to shout to the mountain tops that i have the best brides in the world & i guess this maybe means that smitten photography will work in spite of stomach flu's and high waters :) here is a long awaited slide show and some of my favorite images from this wedding! congratulations callie and brian and thank you for allowing me to celebrate your amazing wedding day!

finally.
finally, thanks to amy i have pictures of my family to splatter all over the walls of my house! amy and i decided a couple of months ago to trade photo shoots...she needed new lifestyle head shots & i needed proof that i am a wife and mom of two kids. its a big decision, as a photographer, who to get to capture your family. i had a desire to ask someone with a very similar style to mine, because i know the value of preserving life as it happens. there is nothing fussy about us & you'd never catch me asking any kid to say cheese, much less, my own :)
amy, you are my third eye. thank you THANK you for giving me more than what i wanted/hoped/dreamed for our family pics! you are the bestest.
it was easy to have fun with my hubby in front of the camera...i know what my favorite shots of my couples are :) |

| my sweet ones. elle & bosten |

| see, we are a family of four :) |

| amy and i had an unreal adventure this weekend, in more ways than one, and as soon as i can hold my head up straight, i'll post the tennessee wedding pics, along with a story for the record books. she and i also did some scheming in the car about another shoot we're going to trade soon & it will most definitely have to do with us both in a white dress ;) |
