when i was growing up it was cool to give your parents a gold chain with a charm that said "#1 dad" or "#1 mom" on it. why that was cool, i'm not too sure. people are getting top dollar right now for gold and if i could find one of those laying around i'd be hi-tailing it to the nearest pawn shop to sell it. long gone are those days of my buying gold charms, but there are so many times i want to stamp the words #1 dad right on ryan's forehead! fact: my hubby is the best daddy around. he gives our little munchkins his time and energy, love and laughter. he plays until he's out of breath, he wrestles, he kicks soccer balls, takes off training wheels, has been known to play tea party, takes late night feedings, snuggles the baby when my arms are tired, sleeps on the hospital floor because there's only room for one on the chair, tells the best made up bedtime stories complete with sound effects & takes his little girl out on weekly dates. ryan is the dad that i asked god to give my children. i think its why i love him more every day. and i am especially grateful for him today. happy fathers day, sugie!
ryan has been taking elle on dates since she was 2 months old. he said as far back as she can remember, he wants elle to remember going on dates with him. they go to the same waffle house every saturday. they pick out songs in the jukebox, dance together in front of their booth, share a large orange juice & a chocolate chip waffle. they talk about life & have "conversations," as elle likes to say. a couple of weeks ago, bosten and i were allowed the rare opportunity to go on their date so i could take pictures of the two of them. it was perfectly imperfect. the smokey filled waffle house, elle in her pj's and ryan, the proudest daddy i've ever seen.
today, i celebrate him.
